Loretto Academy’s Spanish Honor Society (SHS) brought smiles to students’ faces as they offered an assortment of snacks and drinks on Friday, September 15th, during the Fiesta Mexicana.
Fiesta Mexicana is an annual event hosted by the SHS to raise money for the club by selling Mexican snacks and drinks like candy, aguas frescas, papas locas, and pan dulce.
This event took place in the cafeteria during lunchtime and it was available to the middle and high school students.
SHS was able to collect about $300 in sales which they hope to put towards other events the club hopes to take part in.
The club not only hoped to raise money, but to get people excited about upcoming events and help people feel a sense of community by indulging in loved food together.
Loretto senior and active member of SHS, Isela Iglesias, said, “It is really important to me to introduce new foods and traditions that I grew up with to people who might not be used to them.”
The papas locas and aguas frescas were a hit with the middle and high school students and the club came prepared with multiple bags of chips and an abundance of valentina.
The success of this event left Loretto with anticipation as they wait for the next event held by the Spanish Honor Society.
