Award show season continues
March 31, 2023
Music’s biggest night and the two most-watched award shows that honor the best achievements in film and television took place recently.
The Grammy’s, SAG awards, and Oscars recognized outstanding achievements in the artistic world of music and film.
The Recording Academy’s voting membership for the Grammys, and the Motion Picture Academy for the Oscars and SAG awards, voted for the nominees who were announced as 2023’s winners.
This is why the acceptance speeches of most winners; musicians, producers, actors, or directors, include the phrase “thank you to the academy”.
During February and March, nominees and guests of these events arrived in Los Angeles, ready to step into the red carpet, or for the Oscars, for the first time ever, a white carpet.
The Grammys
On February 5, 2023, the Grammy’s celebrated 50 years of hip hop and Beyonce being the most grammy decorated artist in history.
A performance by Bad Bunny opened the ceremony, he delivered a colorful and cheerful show dressed in a simple white t-shirt and cap.
Adele and Lizzo sat at the same table and their reactions showed how fun the award show really was, pictures of them need no other explanation.
The SAG awards
The 29th annual Screen Actors Guild Awards was broadcasted live on February 26, 2023, from the Fairmont Plaza Hotel in Los Angeles
A dazzling round-up of actors, who had more fun with their looks than in the Oscars and Grammys, smiled as they posed for the cameras.
The full list of winners includes 15 categories divided into four main classifications: movies, television, stunts, and the lifetime achievement award.
Brendan Fraser in The Whale received the award for outstanding performance by a male actor in a leading role.
Television series and fan favorite, The White Lotus, won outstanding performance by an ensemble in a drama series.
Stranger Things won outstanding action performance by a stunt ensemble in a television series, a well-deserved award for the action-packed series.
The Oscars
Other moments captured in photography that doesn’t need an explanation, happened during this night on March 12, 2023.
The best and worst moments of the ceremony include a factor of surprise, the unique nominee’s reactions, and the in memoriam performance.
Beautiful gowns filled the seats of the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood.
Fashion stylists for artists and guests did an amazing job, but a factor of surprise for all was the carpet.
Since the 1st Academy Awards Ceremony in 1929, the carpet was famously red, it even became a compound word for the fashion world: red carpet.
They all took into consideration this Old Hollywood characteristic, but this year, according to the Associated Press, Vogue’s creative consultants decided for the color to be champagne.
The reason is simply the lighting; this new take on the carpet made the sunset shine and contrasted with all the attendee’s gowns and suits.
The reaction of Jamie Lee Curtis to her win in the Best Supporting Actress category gave TV viewers a taste of the excitement she felt.
And emotions rose for all when music legend Lenny Kravitz sang “Calling All Angels” during the in memoriam performance.
The three events reminded the audience of what is behind their television screen.
Acceptance speeches, self-expression through fashion, and applauding their peers show a very human, emotional, and exciting side of artists and what they don’t display when they are at work.
