Loretto Academy’s soccer team just hung up their cleats and finished their successful season on Jan. 14, 2023.

The girls put in a lot of work by practicing from Oct. 2022 to their first game on Jan. 3, 2023.

Before the season started, the girls had a scrimmage against Austin High School.

Loretto’s soccer team won four of their eight games this season.

This year’s team consisted of one freshman, two sophomores, 18 juniors, and one senior.

The captains were two juniors, Sophia Merjil and Rebeca Legarretta.

Loretto’s chemistry teacher and soccer head coach, Mr. Nieto, said, “ Next season, our goal is to end on a winning season since we got up to 50% this year, and I would like to make it up to 80%.”

I would also like to be in a fifteen-game season and  be included in TAPPS, hopefully earning some of the girls partial or full scholarships and at least having a junior varsity and varsity team.”

As the soccer season ends, there is no doubt that the next season will be full of success and, most importantly, goals.
