Loretto’s softball season has not started as previously planned due to a lack of girls who wanted to join.

Many dedicated players are devastated and heartbroken because they were unable to showcase their skills this season.

Loretto junior Kelsey Hermida said, “I was hoping to be team captain and show off my skills on the field.

I wanted to have scouts come see me play and have an opportunity to get a scholarship for softball.

And overall, I wanted to have fun and be a leader.”

Loretto’s hope for next year is to be able to go through with the season and recruit more players.

Having a softball season is crucial for many Loretto student-athletes who want to pursue softball in college.

Loretto senior Kianna Verdugo said, “I was looking forward to our senior game and being able to play the inner field.

I wanted to thank my coaches for making softball incredible and say a proper farewell to the underclassmen.”

As a Loretto community, the students are called to stand out and make a difference despite adversity, including practicing patience just like the hopeful student-athletes have done this year.
