Super Bowl LVI
February 4, 2022
The upcoming Super Bowl is on its way to Sofi Stadium in Inglewood, California, on February 13, 2022.
The playoffs began in January with the Wild Card Round (division champions with the best regular-seasons earn a bye-week).
To kick off the playoffs, the Raiders played against the Bengals, and the Patriots played against the Bills on January 16.
The following day, there were three more playoff games, the second game being the 49ers versus the Cowboys.
The 49ers and the Cowboys have rivaled each other seven times in the playoffs.
Their last playoff game against each other was in 1994, the last time the 49ers won the Super Bowl Championship.
The final Wild Card playoff was the Cardinals versus the Rams who played on January 17.
The Divisional Rounds took place the following weekend from January 22-23, with the Titans and the Packers as division champions with home-field advantage.
The AFC and NFC Championship games will take place on January 30, and will finally lead up to the Super Bowl.
The Super Bowl halftime performers are R&B singer Mary J. Blige, Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Eminem, and Kendrick Lamar.
Pepsi, a sponsor of SuperBowl LVI, has partnered with Jay-Z’s Roc Nation entertainment company to create memorable halftime performances for the last three years.
The Super Bowl will be broadcast live on NBC and will be streamed on Peacock and Telemundo.
The NFL is looking to relocate the venue due to COVID spikes in California, however, California officials and California Health and Human Services Agency Secretary, Dr. Mark Ghaly, remain positive that the Super Bowl will still be held at Sofi Stadium.
No announcements concerning limiting space or strict COVID protocols have been reported.
