The Loretto Academy blood drive proved to be a huge success consisting of over 100 donors, including students, family members, and school staff.

Vitalant representative, Julie Jones, explained some of the motives behind this blood drive; Jones said, “We are your area-based blood bank so we supply the blood to 18 area-based hospitals here between El Paso and southern New Mexico.

The blood…. goes back to our lab at Vitalant and then it gets put on the shelves for it to be distributed to the hospitals here in El Paso.”
Jones also specifies that every unit of blood drawn from one person will save three lives.

Thankfully, with many extra donors, a second blood drive will likely be held at Loretto soon, with people that could not attend the past drive.
