Oscars like no others
April 26, 2021
As the ongoing pandemic remains in the air the Academy Awards ceremony has pushed forward their date scheduled for the third time now, but is now officially happening on April 25, 2021.
Being quarantined for over a year has been tough for all; movies delayed, theaters closed, and struggling productions, however the Oscars are back.
For the third year in a row, this 93rd year ceremony will have no host again.
The awards will be held in Los Angeles, California, but rather than the past ceremonies it will be broadcasted in two different locations: the Dolby Theater and Union Station.
The Union Station is the main railway station in Los Angeles that will work as a form of transportation to transit riders through the event that Sunday.
The team who is in charge of producing the telecast of the ceremony said the event will not be through Zoom, like the Golden Globes, but in an outdoor space at Union Station and the Dolby Theater.
“We are treating the event as an active movie set, with specially designed testing cadences to ensure up-to-the-minute results, including an on-site COVID safety team with PCR testing capability,” the team said.
There was a letter sent in March for the nominees that stated that all those who intend attending the Oscars must go in-person and no virtual options will be offered.
Producers Steven Soderbergh, Stacey Sher and Jesse Collins wrote on the letter, “For those of you unable to attend because of scheduling or continued uneasiness about traveling, we want you to know there will not be an option to Zoom in for the show.”
Although the iconic Academy Awards will not be happening as usual, the ceremony’s team and staff are ready for the scheduled date to approach and succeed.
