Perfecting stardom during quarantine
February 3, 2021
Junior year rising star, Danielle Leydon, recalls her experiences during Covid-19 and how the future looks ahead for her artist career.
The pandemic has harshly vanished everyone’s plans and dreams for the last year, but the situation doesn’t seem to get any better recently.
Danielle Leydon said, “I was challenged especially for the first few months when we were on a stricter lockdown by not being able to go to the studio as well as having to adapt to remote production sessions.”
“I still prefer going to the studio in person and do so as often as I can, with proper safety measures of course.”
She has over 1,600 followers on Instagram and 57 monthly listeners on streaming services like Spotify, Youtube and Apple Music.
When asked who was her influence for her music she listed Childish Gambino, Thundercat, Ariana Grande, and Lucky Date.
Leydon said, “Their influence hasn’t really shown in what I’ve put out so far, but all the songs I’ve been working on within the past year that I want to release are very R&B influenced.”
She has released a total of nine songs over the last three years.
Although 2020 was a tough year, Leydon was taught life long lessons.
Leydon said, “2020 taught me first of all how to dress and kind of how I want to express myself going forward. Also, it taught me what I want when it comes to new friendships and relationships; I shed many friends I didn’t need and went through relationships that in a way taught me my standards.
Music-wise, I’ve discovered a kind of signature sound and fine tuned how I want my songs to sound in the future.”
Although she is working on several projects, they are not planned to release for the near future.
As she continues her journey into the music industry, Leydon has been reminded of the importance of being able to adapt when striving for a music career; she was tested on this when COVID struck and has continued to persevere and has even focused on what she wants to achieve in the future.
