February 1, 2021
The Heisman is a trophy given to the most outstanding player in college football.
Voting for the recipient of the Heisman consists of 870 media members, 56 living Heisman winners and one lucky fan picked at random.
The first player to receive a Heisman trophy was RB, Jay Berwanger in 1935.
For this year’s season of College Football, Alabama’s wide receiver, DeVonta Smith took home the Heisman trophy.
Smith was up against Clemson’s quarterback, Trevor Lawrence, and his fellow teammate, quarterback, Mac Jones for the award.
DeVonta had a stellar college career, despite the fact that he dislocated his finger in the first quarter of the game versus Ohio State and did not return for the rest of the game, his team brought back a championship trophy to finish off his senior year.
It is a huge honor to receive the Heisman because it shows the hard work, dedication, and determination the player had put in to earn the trophy.
