Quest for success

College season is right around the corner and seniors are getting prepared for what is to come.
Senior year is like a rollercoaster, filled with experiences along with college stress.
Senior Diana Laura Perez, is the only senior from Loretto Academy who has been selected as a Questbridge finalist.
There is always a rainbow after the rain and for Perez, was no different.
Perez said, “I was researching some good scholarships for college and I saw one of its college partners was my dream school, and it motivated me to apply”.
Perez has been working endlessly on her college applications as well as executing her Questbridge application along the way.
The application for the Questbridge scholarship was not a simple process.
It included several essays, along with short answer essays.
But this was not the only complicated step Perez encountered.
Perez said, “The process was hard and confusing because I didn’t have anyone help me fill in my information.
My parents helped me, but besides that I did everything on my own.”
The Questbridge application required letters of recommendation which are accustomed to be asked for face-to-face.
Unfortunately this time it was different.
Due to lockdowns, and social isolation, Perez had to reach out to her teachers via email which was also a mild struggle.
Perez said, “I couldn’t ask my recommenders face-to-face to write me a letter of recommendation.
It was a little bit hard, but besides that everything was done at time”.
Perez is looking out for her dreams, and her hard work is paying off.
Seeking for opportunities doesn’t stop here, and Perez is planning a successful future.
“ I want to major in Business Administration or Finance because I think it is really interesting how you can lead a business, or group, and help the country’s economy by doing something you love”, Perez said.
Perez’s love for math has made her decide to study finance.
Perez is an inspiration for many people, and she will continue to be as she flourishes in her future.
Today’s tears are tomorrow’s garden, and hard work always pays off.
