2020 NBA draft picks
December 11, 2020
Many college basketball players dream of putting on their best suit to attend the draft at Barclays Center in New York; this year things looked quite different.
The tradition of the first-round picks being announced by NBA Commissioner, Adam Silver, and putting on their new team’s hat still stands.
The top 30 draft prospects were sent “locker” boxes full of goodies.
These gifts included a hat for each team, Beats’ headphones and speaker, and Oculus 2 virtual reality headset.
Georgia freshman Anthony Edwards was the first draft pick of the 2020 NBA Draft.
This Atlanta native is an aggressive offensive player and will certainly be the future for the Timberwolves.
In an interview with ESPN after he was drafted Edwards said, “My family is emotional. I feel like when I get off of here, I am going to be emotional. I am just blessed beyond measure to be in this situation.”
James Wiseman only played three games in his freshman year; however, during his short season, he proved himself as being worthy of the second pick of the draft going to the Golden State Warriors.
Warriors coach Steve Kerr said, “James’ potential athletically is so dramatic that I imagine he’ll have a chance to step in and help us because he’s so athletic and dynamic.”
The draft might have looked different this year, but these men have proven themselves worthy of playing in the pros and being contributors to their NBA team.
