How to keep yourself moving during quarantine
December 11, 2020
Due to the Coronavirus, as you are stuck in the comfort of your home for the majority of the day, it may be difficult to find the motivation to get up and do something active.
There are plenty of ways to stay active at home, you just need to find what gets you going, whether it is a morning jog or a new hobby.
Staying active at home does not necessarily mean you have to exercise, as long as you are staying physically productive.
“Exercise is not really something I enjoy doing so I found other ways to help me stay productive without leaving my house. Every night I made a set schedule with activities to do for the following day. I picked up a lot of new hobbies, like baking, coloring, and most importantly getting things done that I have not had the chance to do.” said college graduate, Audrey Jadwisiak.
For gym regulars, it was hard for them to adjust and rearrange their workouts to their homes with or without owning the equipment needed due to gym closures.
Franklin High School student, Maram Abdeljaber said “I used to go to the gym every day and when the city shut it down I panicked. As quarantine started I knew I needed to keep myself in shape for soccer. I started going on afternoon runs around my neighborhood and searching for YouTube videos on strengthening.”
During quarantine, many unknown, workout YouTubers became relevant, such as Chole Ting, Pamela Reif, and Hasfit.
In El Paso, as the cities continue to go back and forth with shutdowns and re-openings it may be hard for you to find a continuous routine, but if you find a similar feel at home you won’t have to go through the inconsistency.
