When the coronavirus began to spread in the United States, the government began to take action on how to prevent the spread of this virus.

President Trump declared that the United States was under a national state of emergency on March 14, according to abc7ny.com.

Following President Trump’s declaration, many states began to take drastic measures to keep everyone safe.

One of the measures taken was stay-at-home orders.

There are a total of 42 states with this order as of April 7, according to the New York Times.

Some of the 42 states and the date their stay-at-home orders became effective are California as of March 19, Colorado as of March 27, Texas as of April 2, New Mexico as of March 24, and more.

This stay-at-home order is to help prevent citizens from coming within six feet of each other.

The only way for this to work is if people stay home, but some people are doing the exact opposite.

Many citizens have ignored this order and have continued on with their daily lives.

Most young adults have ignored this order because they believe they are not at risk of contracting the coronavirus.

During spring break, 70 students who attend the University of Texas at Austin traveled to Mexico.

The students all flew on a chartered plane to Cabo San Lucas and returned on separate commercial flights to Texas.

Now 44 of them have tested positive for coronavirus, according to the New York Times.

Students from other universities such as the University of Tampa and University of Wisconsin-Madison have also tested positive for the coronavirus after returning from spring break trips to Florida, Alabama, Tennessee and other places.

The people who have continued to go about their daily activities are those helping spread the coronavirus.

In El Paso, the stay-at-home order was extended until May 17.

“On Monday, April 13, the emergency declaration was renewed for another 30 days to May 17,” according to the El Paso Times.

In the El Paso County, there are 706 cases and 10 deaths as of April 25.

“The City of El Paso Public Health Department is reporting 32 new COVID-19 cases bringing the county’s total number to 706, the number of deaths remains at ten.” according to KTSM.

People need to realize that staying home is the best way to keep yourself and those around you safe.
