Freshmen elections: New leaders for the new year
November 12, 2019
With a new year comes new freshmen, and each year they elect a president, a vice president, and homeroom representatives.
As the other classes have already chosen who will be leading their class this year, it’s the freshmen’s turn to vote and select their class leaders.
The candidates for office began putting up posters on the walls, each one as creative as the next.
The posters help people see who is running and who their top candidates will be.
This is also a great way to help freshmen integrate into the community.
Walking down the halls, the different names of the girls who are running for vice president, president, and homeroom reps are plastered along the walls.
The freshmen elections were held on August 27. The long homeroom that was scheduled was used for the candidates’ speeches.
The class of 2023 elected Fatima Valenzuela as the freshman class president, and Carolina Fernandez as the vice president.
Valenzuela has big plans for the freshman class; she said, “My goals for the freshmen class are to make them more united and for them to have the best year.”
Valenzuela said, “I wanted to be president because it seemed like a good opportunity to get to know the class and to learn leadership skills.”
Leading so many girls is not an easy task; Valenzuela is a great representation of someone that is ready to lead.
