Loretto Academy Spanish classes prepared beautiful altars for the Day of the Dead celebrated on November 2 to commemorate the deaths of loved ones.

Dia de Los Muertos is a Mexican holiday to celebrate and to remember friends and family who have passed away.

Senior Macarena Barrio said, “It’s a time to remember all those who passed away; it reminds us about the importance of family and continuing their legacy.”

Students assembled altars for their loved ones as well as celebrities including Walt Disney, Selena Quintanilla, Stan Lee, and Karl Lagerfeld.

There was a special altar made for Loretto’s biggest supporter R.J. Bustillos.

Celebrating this tradition not only reminds us to pray for the dead, but also to unite as a family.
