The Loretto Motherhouse is the original home of the “Sisters of Loretto”.

Located on 788 acres in Nerinx, Ky., about 60 miles from Louisville, the Motherhouse is a place to praise God and serve the neighbor.

It was first bought in 1796 and named St. Stephen’s Farm.

Later, in 1824 it became home to the Sisters of Loretto, it spread to China, South America, Africa, and Pakistan.

Approximately 100 sisters live there nowadays.

Last year, four current Loretto juniors visited the Motherhouse; Mila Cordero, Abi Eudave, Meghan Brittain, and Lili Schow.

The sophomores can apply to go on summer and help the sisters of Loretto, have fun activities and learn more about Loretto’s history.

Loretto senior Vianney Ruiz, who visited the Motherhouse said “It was one of the best experiences that I have had, it was so fun to share time with the sisters.”

The application process has already began, and only four lucky sophomores will attend the Loretto Motherhouse this summer.
