On December 2nd,  at Sunland Park’s Racetrack and Casino, the official announcement made by this year’s sponsor, Hyundai, stated that it would feature the Stanford Cardinals to take on the Pittsburgh Panthers on December 31.

The Panthers and Cardinals are no strangers to El Paso’s own Sun Bowl.

While Stanford recently played at the Sun Bowl in 2016, Pittsburgh last played at the Sun Bowl dating to 2008.

The Panthers are returning to the Sun Bowl after losing to Clemson during the ACC Championship game, who are ranked at #2.

This event will commence the 85th annual Hyundai Sun Bowl, set to start at noon on December 31st.
