Keeping tradition alive for 100 years now, Loretto Academy continues to celebrate the Ring Rose ceremony, which highlights the Juniors and Seniors.
Ring Rose symbolizes both sisterhood and friendship between the two grade levels.
Juniors give the seniors a yellow rose symbolizing friendship as well as the Loretto Sisterhood while the seniors present the juniors with their class rings, marking the journey towards senior year.
Juniors have the opportunity to choose their big sisters from the senior class for the ceremony representing their strong bonds.
Ring Rose takes place during the month of April and the girls wear spring-themed dresses for the ceremony to represent the new season and new beginnings.
This year, Ring Rose took place on Friday, April 11th at 1:45pm.
Recalling Memories
At the ceremony, the Junior Class President Orlyola Tantchou and Vice President Precious Pieri gave a speech on their recollections from freshman year until now.
Precious Pieri said, “The Ring Rose speech was pretty hard to write since Orlyanka and I had to recall all the memories since freshman year but it also felt very nostalgic looking back and laughing at every moment we all spent together.”
Senior Olivia Torres said, “Ring Rose this year was great, I think being the senior is definitely something I was looking forward to mainly because I think it’s a beautiful symbol similar to passing on the torch to a junior.”
After the junior’s speech, Senior Class President, Melania Martinez and Senior Class Vice President, Ana Munoz gave a speech as well on their high school memories.
Melania Martinez said, “Being able to connect with my little is such a sacred tradition; it shows that I will always be a Loretto angel.”
Following the speeches, Father Ken, Loretto Academy’s main priest, proceeded to bless the rings for the juniors who were to receive them.
Once every junior received her ring and every senior their yellow rose, the Loretto Academy principal, Mrs.Tovar, gave a concluding speech and the girls then exited the gym where the ceremony was held.
Ring Rose this year was a success, making it a special moment living in our hearts and making it an important role in Loretto Academy.
The class of 2025 and 2026 will forever cherish this unforgettable moment at Loretto, marking the last memories of sisterhood.
