Memorable Winter Olympics for US athletes

The Winter Olympics came to an end on February 20, 2022, with Norway, Germany, China, the United States, and Sweden as the most decorated countries. 

The US earned eight gold medals, ten silver medals, and seven bronze medals, resulting in a total of twenty-five medals. 

A significant moment in US Winter Olympics history took place when 29-year-old Erin Jackson took first place in speed skating as the first black woman to win a gold medal in an individual sport. 

Jackson secured first place with a time of 37.04, only 0.08 seconds ahead of second place, Japan’s Takagi Miho. 

Another impressive athlete was Nathan Chen, who won gold in figure skating with a score of 332.60, 22.5 points ahead of Japan’s Kagiyama Yuma. 

Chen holds a notable career in figure skating with three world championships.

He also won ten events in a row from international competitions, earning third place in Skate America in 2021 and first place in Skate Canada, which secured his spot in the 2022 Winter Olympics. 

The US-made an impressive appearance this year in the Winter Olympics by breaking records and making history.
