Advising for college

Isabela Baca, Class Section Editor

The college application process and making decisions at such a young age is somewhat complicated.

Along the way, each and every one of the girls at Loretto will approach the time to stick around with the counselors, and ask all types of questions regarding college.

Senior Arianna Hernandez said, “For the whole college process I would say definitely start earlier, work a lot with your writing skills.”

Avoiding procrastination is key to deal with school and get everything done in time with college applications.

College writing skills and committing to deadlines is something one learns between the walls of Lockhart University.

Senior AnaMarie Cordova said, “I would definitely start by saying to take advantage of Mrs. Lockhart and her English class.”

“She values the college application process and will be trying to help you figure out your path all year long.”

“By taking her class seriously, you’d have already written some pieces for the process making it a little less stressful.”

Senior Ivanna James said, “Don’t wait until the last minute, clean your essays up, have a peer or teacher read them and give you feedback.

“Have a safety school, and a challenge school, but always a safety.”

Like James, it is important to play it safe, but also seek for opportunities, like scholarships.

Hernandez said, “Apply for as many scholarships as you can, it doesn’t hurt to be prepared.

“Talk to as many of the counselors as you can, it lets them know you’re committed to your future!”

Although it may seem like a scary process for many people, everything works out at the end.

Taking the advice from this year’s seniors will definitely save up stress and time.
