Loretto track takes district then regionals

The Loretto Track team went to San Antonio to compete to advance to regionals.

The girls left Wednesday, April, 14 and competed Thursday, April, 15. 

The Loretto girls compete in TAPPS 6a district 3, they compete against other private and parochial schools across the region.

 Top 4 in each event advance to regionals, which is in Austin.

Maria Hobbs said, “I am super excited to compete and give it my all my senior year.”

After a long day of competing, three girls advanced in individual events.

Kimberly Castillo qualified in the 200m triple jump, Natalia Gallardo qualified in 300m hurdles and Britney Martinez qualified in the 1600m run.

The 4×4 relay consisting of Amanda Torres, Maria Hobbs, Mariah Martinez, and Britney Martinez also advanced to Regionals.

The regional team competed in Bastrop, Texas on Wednesday, April, 21.

While none of the girls advanced from Regionals to the State meet, it was an eventful meet.

Hobbs said, “It was a great last meet with the girls, even if we didn’t qualify for State.”

The Loretto Angel track team had a great season and we are so proud of all their accomplishments.
