Lil Nas X, an American Singer, and MSCHF (MSCHF Product Studio Inc.) developed  ‘satan shoes’ that were modeled after Nike’s Air Max 97 which resulted in a lawsuit.

Lil Nas X’s breakout to stardom began when he released “Old Town Road” featuring Billy Ray Cyrus.

On March 26, 2021, Lil Nas X released his new song, “Montero ( Call Me By Your Name)”.

Lil Nas X then launched the “Satan” shoe with MSCHF as a marketing tactic for his new song.

The shoe was modeled after Nikes Air Max 97, had a drop of blood from the workers at MSCHF, and had the Bible verse Luke 10:18 printed on the side.

The “Satan” shoe also included the Nike swoosh symbol which led many consumers to believe that it was in collaboration with the brand.

MSCHF sold exactly 666 companies of the shoe at $1,018 a pair.

They sold out in less than a minute.

Nike moved quickly with a lawsuit and now the shoes are being recalled and anyone who purchased the “Satan” shoe will be getting their money back in full.

Many argue that it was uncalled for Nike to remove the shoe and called it a strain on creative expression while others argued that the satanic symbols and human blood don’t belong on a shoe.
