Juniors deal with PSAT Rescheduled

Junior year is the test trial before senior year–they get a glimpse of what applying to college is like with Lockhart University, they take classes oriented more towards what they’d like to study, and they take the PSAT.

This year juniors were scheduled to take the PSAT on October 14.

However due to the rising numbers of Covid-19 in El Paso, the PSAT was postponed to January 29, 2021.

The way that the juniors were going to test in Loretto was that they would still follow in-school guidelines by social distancing and wearing a face mask at all times and they would be in different rooms around the schools spreaded out.

The PSAT gives students across the country the opportunity to qualify for the  National Merit Scholarship Program.

Many juniors had been preparing themselves for this test.

Junior Aurora Zepeda said, “I began studying for the PSAT around 3 or 4 months before the exam.

“I have been doing daily practice problems and exercises. Overall, I am anxious and a little nervous to take the exam.”

Like Zepeda, junior Jimena Vega said, “I’ve been preparing for the PSAT by doing some practice tests online and on the SAT practice book.”

Hopefully juniors will see this postponement as an opportunity to have more time to study in order to excel in this exam!
