The Loretto Academy Swim team headed to Regionals on January 21, 2020.

The team traveled together to San Antonio, Texas and their five hour competition was on Wednesday, January 22.

Carolina Garcia, a new sophomore member of the team, said, “I am super nervous because my coach is making me swim something I’ve never swam, which is the 500-yard freestyle race.

“I am also hoping to qualify for my 200-yard freestyle race.”

As the team woke up, their nerves started to rise up and their stomachs began to get butterflies, but they were focused for their races.

As regionals ended, the following girls qualified for state: Carolina Garcia, Celeste Hirschi, Carolina Wong, Sophia Chabre, Lauren Barajas, Analia Cortez, Charlotte Schow, Paulina Quiroz, Elizabeth Gunnison, and Jimena Vega.

The team won first place at Regionals and now have started to practice for State, which will come up soon.
