On Wednesday, January 15, Loretto Academy held a science fair for pre-AP science students.

Senior Dinorah Perez said, “I was excited but also really nervous.

“I liked seeing everyone else’s projects, ideas, and boards.

“It helped me expand my knowledge.”

This was the first science fair after the WiSE [Women in Science and Engineering] Festival, that took the fair’s place for the past two years.

Junior Samantha Perez said, “It was a little bit more disorganized than in previous years, but it was still nice to see our community come together to judge and participate in the science fair.”

Dr. Esteban Quirarte, a physician at the Department of Veterans Affairs, said, “I was greatly honored to be a judge.

“The quality education and enthusiasm of the students was readily noticeable.

 “It was a pleasure.”

Quirarte was one of the many judges with an impressive resume.

Although there were a few bumps in the road, the 2020 high school science fair was a success.
