The Big Sister/Little Sister picnic is an event where the freshmen and the seniors go on a picnic at Biggs Park in Fort Bliss.

This picnic is meant to help the freshmen get to know their “biggies” by taking part in team building activities and creating bonds with each other.

It has been a tradition that many generations have taken part in and enjoy.

The Big Sister/Little Sister picnic that was hosted on Friday, August 16 is a part of “Hey Week,” in which each different classification has a special welcoming gift for the freshmen.

The main event of the week is the picnic.

The girls go early in the morning to enjoy a day full of different games such as contests, football, tug-of-war, and a water balloon fight.

Sophia Chauvet, a new senior at Loretto, said, “In the Big Sister/Little Sister picnic, I had a very good time because it was a time for bonding with my little.”

The picnic brought the freshmen and seniors together and is a time for the freshmen to become acclimated to Loretto.

New seniors also have a chance to get to know Loretto and its values.

Luciana Baeza, a freshman, said, “I really enjoyed the picnic; my favorite activity was the water balloon fight.”

Loretto would not be Loretto without its amazing traditions that help build a stronger sisterhood.
