Freshmen, sophomores, juniors, and seniors alike flooded the hallways with school pride with exciting themes during Spirit Week.

Each classification was assigned a different category in which they would dress up.

Freshmen were Disney animals; sophomores were people in Disney; juniors were villains; the seniors, of course, were princesses.

The week began on September 23, 2019 with “Tropical Disney Day.”

The girls dressed in grass skirts and colorful leis.

Sophomore Renata Ramirez said, “The tropical day [was my favorite] because you could dress how you wanted.”

Then came “Tacky Disney Tourist” day that left the girls sporting fanny packs and cargo pants.

The third day of Spirit Week was “Disney Gender Swap.”

All the students were dressed as various Disney boys.

Not so many girls at this all-girl school!

Then came one of the most highly anticipated days of the week: Field Day.

On Field Day the girls competed against each classification.

Whichever classification racks up most spirit points is named the champion of field day.

The class rivalries immediately kicked in.

Sophomore head sponsor Mrs. Kimpell said, “Of course we are going to win! Are you insane?”

Other classes weren’t so sure about that statement.

Junior Christie Moreck said, “Juniors [are going to win]. We have the best wall, and everyone is committed this year to winning!”

However, other classifications were not so sure about coming out victorious.

Freshman Sophia Arellano put her money on the seniors winning.

Arellano said, “Seniors [are going to win] because it’s their last year.”

As the day went on, colors of green, pink, yellow, and purple stormed the gym with impromptu cheer offs and dances.

Many girls were thrilled with the games this year.

Junior Mariana De La Rocha said, “The best activity today has been jumping the hoops inside.”

To many, Field Day was a time of laughter and screaming; for others, it was a time to reminisce.

Senior Dulce Lara said, “It felt great since the morning when we entered and ran in the circle. It was like ‘Oh my gosh, I’m a senior.’ It made senior year more real.”

Seniors took the win — leaving juniors in second, sophomores in third, and freshmen in fourth.

Spirit Week was then wrapped up with each class dressing up in their themes.

Spirit Week brought along many memories that bonded the girls of Loretto in indescribable ways.

This 2019 spirit week was one for the books!
