NCAA Basketball Championships recap

Sofia Cadena, Sports reporter

The annual NCAA Division I men’s
basketball championship game was played
on April 8, 2019 in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

After many teams competed for a spot on
this final championship game, only the
Texas Tech Raiders and the Virginia
Cavaliers made the play.
After a long game that went overtime, the
Cavalier beat the Raiders 85-77.
De’Andre Hunter from the Cavaliers said
in an interview shortly described the game
as an incredible experience, “It’s a goal we
started out with at the beginning of the
season.
We knew we were going to bounce back

from last year. We achieved our dreams.”
This victory helped with Virginia’s ascend
into being the number one school in regards
to men’s basketball across the world.

On the women’s court, the Baylor Bears
beat the Notre Dame Fighting Irish, 82-81
on April 7, 2019.
This became the third title that Baylor has
received from 2002, 2012, and 2019.
Chloe Jackson scored the most points at 26
but she mostly thanks her teammates for the
win, “My teammates and my coaches, they

just believe in me so much.”
Both the women’s and men’s game were
great achievements for all teams.
