Millions of students take the PSAT/NMSQT each year in the United States in October.

There are only about 2,500 students that receive this scholarship that grants students $2,500 for their college education.

According to the National Merit Scholarship Corporation, their mission is to “recognize and honor the academically talented students of the United States” and their goals are:

• “To promote a wider and deeper respect for learning in general and for exceptionally talented individuals in particular.”
• “To shine a spotlight on brilliant students and encourage the pursuit of academic excellence at all levels of education.”
• “To stimulate increased support from organizations that wish to sponsor scholarships for outstanding scholastic talent.”

One of those 2,500 students is junior Adrienne Deslongchamps.

Adrienne said, “I was really surprised when they pulled me out of class, I didn’t even know what they were telling me about.”

This achievement made Adrienne, her family, and the Loretto Academy community are extremely proud.
