Meet senior Andrea Hernandez, she plays for Loretto Academy’s varsity soccer team.

Although Andrea has only played as an Angel for four years, she has played for the sport since she was 6 years old.

Hernandez is the captain of the team and recently won Most Valuable Player at Loretto’s sports banquet.

At what age did you start playing soccer?

“I started playing around the age of six.”

What is your favorite thing about soccer?

“My favorite thing about soccer is that the sport has allowed me to grow in ways I never thought possible and it allowed me to meet people who have become prominent figures in my life.”

What keeps you motivated?

“I first began playing soccer because it was something my dad loved to do, so I thought it would be fun. I think the fact hat my dad once did it motivates me to want to be better and to push myself to new standards.”

“For me, being a teammate means being someone who is able to show determination both on and off the field, someone who is persistent because they wants what-
